The Pandemic has changed our lives in many ways. Industries have risen, fallen and even improved in line with a changed world. Mental health therapy became an industry that was no longer seen as a luxury for a few but as a necessary means of coping for many.
In March of 2021, Dr. Kamathia was acting as a medical advisor to a large airline alliance, Rob Gurney, the CEO. During a break in their schedules, they met to discuss not only how mental health therapy can benefit those involved with airline travel, but people in general. The pandemic had taken its toll creating new stressors…in the airline industry and beyond. The conventional model of delivering therapy was ripe for change.
With years of business and medical experience behind them, they set about identifying areas for improvement.
One by one they tackled these issues and landed on confydr. – – a mental health approach rooted in innovation in the face of necessity built with expertise and passion for the crucial importance of workplace wellbeing.

Dr. Goolam Kamathia
With over two decades of experience in the medical field, Goolam Kamathia has dedicated himself to providing compassionate care and support.
His journey, which began at the University of Bristol Medical School, England has taken him through various roles in different hospitals. Throughout, his focus has always been on promoting holistic wellbeing and delivering the best possible outcome for his patients.
Goolam Kamathia’s passion for holistic patient care led him to specialise in Primary Care. His expertise in this area has enabled him to effectively address the complex needs of patients, offering tailored treatment plans and support systems to promote wellbeing within the community.
Dr. Kamathia’s ethos is to provide not just medical treatment, but also a listening ear and a supportive hand, especially when it comes to managing mental health. Helping people navigate through life’s challenges and promoting their wellbeing brings him immense joy and fulfillment.
Alongside Primary Care, he’s developed expertise into Aviation Medicine. Through leadership roles, he’s focused on ensuring the health and happiness of travellers and crew memebers alike, with a particular focus on optimising their wellbeing.
Dr. Kamathia highlighted that his experience working with some of the world’s best airlines has been an experience filled with learning and collaboration.
It is during this time in Dr. Kamathia’s career that he came to realize the crucial importance of workplace wellbeing.
Rob Gurney
Rob Gurney has broad commercial and operational experience in aviation, travel and tourism having held a number of senior roles with British Airways, Qantas Airways Limited and Emirates.
He has served as Chief Executive Officer for Helloworld Limited, a multi-faceted travel and tourism business with operations in Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Asia and listed on the Australian Stock Exchange where he undertook a major business transformation.
Most recently Rob served as the Chief Executive Officer of the oneworld airline alliance which comprises of thirteen of the world’s leading airlines, reporting to the alliance governing board consisting of member airline Chief Executive Officers, a position that he held for seven years.
Rob has also served on a number of boards including the Asian-based Tour East Group, which he chaired; Australia Tourism Export Council; Tourism Western Australia and Tourism and Transport Forum Australia.
